Contributor's comments: This word may be Irish in origin. That is to say I never heard it until I went to live in Dublin in the 70s. I have never heard it used in Australia.
Editor's comments: Despite the no doubt efficacious effects of too much "Matthew Lang Chardonnay", the term "langers" is definitely borrowed from Irish slang.
